What to expect
Atarazanas is a working food market with a long architectural history. The city says the current hall was built between 1876 and 1879 around a gateway reused from the Nasrid shipyard that once stood here. Inside, the municipal market has 260 stalls; the rear stained-glass window shows landmarks from Málaga. The council currently lists trading hours as Monday to Saturday, 08:00–15:00, and says the market has no access for visitors with reduced mobility. The market is busiest while stalls are trading, so leave room for shoppers in the aisles.
