Arthur's Seat and Holyrood Park

What to expect

Holyrood Park is a large, rugged greenspace east of the Old Town, with Arthur's Seat, Salisbury Crags, St Margaret's Loch and the ruins of St Anthony's Chapel. The summit climb is only one option: surfaced paths and park tracks offer shorter walks, while higher routes are rough, steep and exposed. The hill is an ancient volcanic peak, and the park's open ground gives wide views over Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth.
